The Craft: Spells & Magick

Witchcraft - Wicca, Spells, And Magick

Author: Tasha Palladino

A Brief overview of Wicca:

When witchcraft is practiced as a religion, it is called by the Old English term for witch, Wicca. This term is used to counter all the negative stereotypes that society has given witchcraft. Wicca is primarily a religion that worships nature, and sees all creation as sacred. In fact, all Wiccan holy days follow the cycles of nature and the changes in the seasons. Wicca also worships both a male and female deity, a female Goddess and a male God, who had together created the world and everything in it.

Witchcraft is neither black nor white. Witchcraft is a religion that respects Mother Nature and She is neither completely positive or completely negative, this is the same for witches.

Spells are used by Wiccans, and are a series of rituals and prayers that are conducted in witchcraft to ask for divine help in a certain aspect of life. All spells must adhere to the witchcraft code of conduct, meaning that any spells used to harm another person is forbidden. In witchcraft, spells may also be changed or adapted to suit a Wiccan's personality or specific wishes in casting the spell.

What exactly is witchcraft, spells, and magick?

Twenty years ago, I asked myself those same questions, and I'm still learning the answers. My journey started at 15 years of age, with a very understanding mother and a visit to New Age Shop. I remember entering the shop with a sense of awe, and instantly being put at ease by a wonderfully sweet aroma that hung over the bookcases. Yet, out of all the potions, oils, and books that filled the place, the one thing that stood out to me the most was the man behind the counter. He looked more like George Clooney than something out of Halloween Fairytales, and that was my first lesson. Witches look just like everyone else. Of course you may run into the occasional witch who looks more fiction than fact but other than those, most are just your average Joe, the majority tend to choose to blend in as much as possible. Why? Not everyone is armed with 21st century thinking, and in some cases, witches are put into the same category as Satanists, heathens, and just generally bad people.

I eventually took more interest in magick, oh and not my spelling of magick. Witches refer to spells and divine help as magick, not to be confused with magic, which we consider to be what you would see at a show, a magician sawing a woman in half, card tricks, etc.. Magick, however, is sacred to all Wiccans. Ah yes, back to my story, I eventually took more interest in magic and at the age of 35 purchased an old building in New Jersey and turned into one of the state's only Wiccan Temples. I currently live at home with my two wonderful children and my familiar (husband as most people call it) enjoying life and being at one with nature. I currently make a living supporting my family by offering services at my temple and through my website http://www.witchcraftspellsnow.com/.

Wicca Spellcraft for Men

Synopsis

Wicca Spellcraft for Men explains the workings of Wiccan spellcraft from a male point of view with special attention to the concerns men face in their day to day life. It provides the scientific principles of spellcraft and sensibly explains both the theory and practice of modern spellcraft.

The book offers examples of spells that can be found in lore. Recipes for incense, oils, and other creations are given with clear instructions on recording how well these recipes work for the individual and amending the recipes to improve function.

Internet Book Watch

Wicca Spellcraft For Men presents spellcraft from a male Wiccan perspective, explaining the difference between male and female energy results in spells and exploring how projective energy qualities have almost been ignored in female-dominated Wiccan texts. Wicca Spellcraft For Men is an excellently presented and uniquely informative treatise on male spell differences.

ILMJ Editorial Endnote:

There is also the aspect of the "Triple God" or Son, Father, Grandfather relative to the Triple Goddess or "Maiden, Mother, Crone".

Consecration of Magickal Tools

Consecration of Chalice, Athame or Other Tool

Before these assembled spirits I bring (name type of tool) to be dedicated to the service of the Lady and Lord.

(Pass tool three times through smoke of the incense.)

By the power of air, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to purity of thought and to harmlessness that all intentions for which thou art used may harm none and be for the good of all.

(Pass tool three times through or over the flame of the fire candle.)

By the power of fire, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to purity of desire and to harmlessness that all goals which thou doest help achieve may harm none and be for the good of all.

(Take a few drops of water and sprinkle or dab on instrument.)

By the power of water, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to purity of emotion and to harmlessness that all that thou shalt be used in a spirit of harmony, harming none and for the good of all.

(Touch instrument to the stone or salt in north quarter)

By the power of earth, be thou purified. Be thou dedicated to steadfastness and purity of purpose, that my will be achieved without wavering, with harm to none and for the good of all.

(If this is a chalice, present it first to the Lady, then to the Lord, if athame, reverse order. All other instruments use personal preference, but it is courtesy to present them to Her first.)

PRESENTATION FOR CHALICE:

Lady Freya, Keeper of Femininity, bless this chalice. Let it be as Thy cauldron, a vessel of productivity that it may be worthy to dispense Thy bounty. Let it be used in Thy service and in the service of humanity. Let it be so bound that no harm may come of it to any being, but let it rather be an instrument of goodwill and understanding; of loving harmony. To Thy sacred self I dedicate this vessel, (name of vessel), that it and I may long be of service to Thee.

Lord Thor, companion to the Lady, champion of the Gods, bless this chalice and keep watch over it. Guard the works which come forth from it, that they ever be in the service of Thee and Thy Lady, that they be of service to humankind, and that they abide by the laws of harmony. To Thee I vow I shall use it for Her sacred purposes, and for no other.

So mote it be.

PRESENTATION FOR ATHAME:

Lord Thor, thunderer & hammer wielder, bless this athame. Let it be as the spring rains which fall upon the Earth to cause Her to bring forth Her bounty.

Let it quicken my hopes and dreams, yet keep them from causing harm. Let it guide them in the harmony of the seasons, bringing forth only good for all. Lord Thor, bless this athame, (name of athame), that it be used ever in the worship and honor of the Gods.

Lady Freya, companion to the Thunderer, lover of the Gods, bless this athame that it shall bring forth joy, and shall cause no pain nor disharmony to any. I dedicate this athame (name athame), symbol of the Defender and Rain Maker, to Thy service. May it ever bring Thee joy and pride.

So mote it be.

(This ritual, with suitable changes, may be used to dedicate other tools as well as these.)

Witchcraft & Spellwork

Witchcraft Spells: How To Incorporate Magic Into Your Life for Health, Wealth and Happiness

Author: Tenzin Pemo

More and more people these days are turning to witchcraft, paganism and wiccan spiritual practices as more meaningful and inclusive forms of religion.

Since the printing of Gerald Gardner Witchcraft Today, thousands have discovered the power it can have. Although we live in a highly modernized, technological world, the ancient wisdom and knowledge that is imparted through witchcraft is still relevant today, if in fact even more so, since it is a peaceful, inclusive and deeply conscious tradition, that reveres the earth and earthly cycles.

In this day and age, which is dominated by war and wanton environmental destruction, witchcraft offers a gentle nonviolent alternative way of making sense of our world.

Some people sadly, fear witchcraft because they wrongly associate it with the dark arts of Satanism.

This is a grave misconception, which witches everywhere are seeking to dispel. According to Gardner, contrary to the popular perceptions, witchcraft is more to do with honoring the earth and the divine feminine.

In fact, most people who practice witchcraft, do so because it is holistic, non-judgmental and non-patriarchal inasmuch as it honors the sacred creativity of women, and recognizes the life-giving force of the earth upon which we live.

Many people see witchcraft as a deeply ecological religion, that seeks to protect the earth and its gifts to humans.

Whether you want to incorporate witchcraft into your life in a serious and dedicated manner, or simply want to explore this spiritual tradition, learning about it first is the way forward.

Because it is such a poorly understood and much maligned spiritual tradition, many witches are very private about their beliefs. In fact, most will not reveal themselves to be witches.

Whether you go on to join a coven, or merely incorporate magic into your life on a private level, you too can start to weave spells into your life in order to transform your day to day reality.

Many novices start out by practicing what I like to describe as practical magic spells that can be incorporated into your life without requiring much effort or time.

Here are two good everyday spells to add to your spell book.

1) Protection charm

If you are concerned about your own well-being, or the well-being of someone dear to you, make sure you (or that other person) carries something blue on the body. By wearing something blue on your person, you will ward off destructive or negative forces.

A good tip for women is to sew blue ribbon into their bras and underwear so that no matter what you are wearing on the outside, you will always have something blue on your body to protect you.

For men, carrying blue beads in your pocket is one way of performing this charm. Although this is a simple charm to carry out, it is extraordinarily effective. I recently gave a blue bead on a string to a male friend of mine who had been unceremoniously dumped by his girlfriend.

He told me that within a day of carrying the bead he had not only gotten over his negative feelings about his girlfriend, but had secured a highly lucrative art deal and was felt he was on a path of rebirth.

He carries his blue bead everywhere as a matter of course now.

2) House charm

Many people want to know how they can protect their homes from negative forces. This is a very simple spell that ensures your home draws in positivity, friendship and love.

It can be performed at any time, but I recommend your do it when your family or flat-mates are not present, as you do not want to be interrupted. To cleanse the house of any negative spirits or emotions, you light a candle and go from room to room, reciting the qualities that you want to exist in your home.

When I performed this spell, I went from room to room, saying things like Peace, Happiness, Creativity, Love, Friends, Laughter etc etc. Once you have visited every room, take a sprig of lavender and tie it above each external door.

By tying lavender above the entrances to your house, you ensure that only good elements pass into it.

The two charms above show how easy it can be to practice magic. Whether you intend to delve more deeply into witchcraft, or merely incorporate a little practical magic into your life, witchcraft is a deeply spiritual and conscious religion that draws on ancient wisdom and knowledge that can truly enhance your life.

Applied Magick

APPLIED MAGIC

"DESPITE the fact that obeah is clearly defined as regards its origin in Ashanti witchcraft, and its early development among the Jamaica slaves, in course of time it has become so confused with voodoo and other superstitious practices that now the word is used as a generic term for any kind of West India witchcraft and by extension it embraces even 'a fetish or magic object used in witchcraft.' (1)

As a consequence, it is difficult for the average reader to clearly differentiate the real from pseudo-obeah unless he keeps in mind the fundamental principles which were established in the preceding chapter, and which may be briefly summarized as follows.

Obeah, as the continuation of Ashanti witchcraft, is professedly a projection of spiritual power with the harm of an individual as an objective. Practically, its end is attained through fear, supplemented if needs be by secret poisoning. The agent is the servant of the Sasabonsam or Devil who is invoked and relied upon to produce the desired effect. Consequently real obeah must be regarded as a form of Devil-worship..."

What Is Magick?

What Is Magick
By
David Rankine
© copyright 1999, 2000, 2001 David Rankine

What is magick? Forget all the fallacies and stereotypical pre-conceptions taught to you out of fear and ignorance and approach this question with an open mind. You will probably find it is not what you have been taught to think. Magick has been defined as "The art and science of causing change to occur in conformity with will *1" which could be put more simply as making desired change happen; or as "energy tending to change"; a definition I use is "magick is conscious evolution through directing energy". This does not really explain magick though, so I will try to elaborate on these phrases without jargon.

An aim of magick is to train the mind by harnessing and making more consciously accessible such higher faculties as intuition, inspiration and the creative imagination, and by drawing on the power of the unconscious - to try and use more than the 10% of our brain's capacity that we do.

Magick assumes belief in, or rather experience of, subtle energies. We can only see about one seventieth of the light spectrum, yet what we cannot see still affects us - such as x-rays and ultraviolet light. Similarly, magick is about focusing more subtle, non-physical energies, and directing them to create change. To go about this requires experience, and training to improve the power of the mind, and specifically, the will.

Acts such as meditation, breath control, voice work, body work, visualization, drama, ritual, and others, are all designed to improve our body and mind, to better sharpen us and balance us, and to enable us to perceive and wield more subtle energies.

In the same way, an individual is as strong as their will, and the more balanced and integrated a person is, the stronger their will (note, this is probably one of the main reasons why so many magicians have experience of counselling and/or psychology, recognising the help these
processes can give, both through training and experiencing them. This also acts as a removal of farcical social stigma often attached to these processes).

Practising magick tends to act as a deconditioning mechanism and can be a subtle process, the longer you practice, the more you change and the unnecessary inhibitions, stigmas, guilts and sin complexes that society builds in are removed. This has the effect of releasing their energy into the psyche, where it can strengthen the individual.

The more physical side, such as yoga, bodywork, dance and massage, also removes the tension held in the body as body armour, and releases this and removes energy blockages which impair full efficiency and may result in illness.

Possibly the major difference between magick and many of the religious paths to spiritual growth is that magick is more dynamic, and places the emphasis on you to work for change - there are no gurus in magick, rather there are fellow students with different perspectives and experiences - we learn from each other, as in other areas of life.

Magick tends to work a lot with symbols, as these are the language of the unconscious, and this is an area of tremendous power to tap. Symbols have many functions, and one of these, released through magick, can be the ability to confound the ego and the censor mechanisms, and enabling us to perceive more subtle truths, or experience direct revelations. Although we may not be able to fully explain how symbols work, we know from experience that certain symbols seem harmonious with certain types of energy.

For example a magician may tell you that if you want to attract love you should wear green, and rose perfume, perhaps wear copper, like a bracelet or necklace, etc. These are all things attributed with Venus, who is associated with love, and so the principal is one of contagion - sympathetic magick, or making something happen by working with items linked to it. This is one of the oldest and most commonly practised forms of magick. Working with the symbols of a type of energy does seem to attract that energy.

A cautionary word here, magick is often seen as a way to hidden powers, and entered for the wrong reason, the "I want sex, power and lots of money" syndrome. Now there is nothing wrong with these things in themselves, but when you do magick you will discover that you tend to get what you need rather than necessarily what you want.

When you do magick you generally use techniques to alter your state of consciousness and raise energy, and then direct that energy to create a desired result. The channel that energy takes as directed by your altered state of consciousness is not necessarily the path you might expect in your normal everyday state. Magick does bring you power, yes, but it is powerover yourself, not other people. It is the power that is important, to grow and to create positive change.

This does not mean there is anything wrong with using magick to gain more physical things, there is nothing wrong with doing a ritual or spell to get a job, whereas trying to make a specific individual go to bed with you would be wrong. Magick is very much about intent, and if your intent is to get work, you are not imposing on people, whereas if you were trying to make somebody do something that they would not naturally do, you are imposing on their will.

If you did a ritual to attract love without specifying a person, but opening yourself to the opportunity to meet someone where love may arise, and to feel more attractive and better about yourself, you are not imposing, you are trying to create positive change.

Magick is a commitment to yourself, and it requires determination, perseverance, strength, openness to change and absence of rigidity, a love of life (including yourself), and a desire to grow and fulfil your potential. It may be that you already have all these qualities and do this already without calling it magick - magick is not about labels, and those who think and talk as if it is unfortunately put some people off. Magick is learning about the natural flows of energy in the universe, and working in harmony with them to effect positive change, both in yourself and in your environment.

Some people ask why magick is spelt with a 'k' on the end. This is to distinguish it from magic, associated in the popular mind with illusionism and prestidigitation, stage magic. Magick is not about illusion, it is about creating real change, and the 'k' signifies this. K is the eleventh letter of the alphabet, i.e. the one beyond ten. Symbolically this is very powerful, as we work in base ten, and eleven represents the unseen, or hidden energies - the subtle energies of magick, eleven is considered to be the number of magick.

Magickal training and experience bring forth the energies of the unconscious, and so it is no surprise to see that symbols become more important as you develop, providing not only the language of dream and the unconscious, but also helping create a more flexible perception grid of the universe. To grow spiritually, it is vital that you remain flexible and do not become dogmatic, rather that you are open to experience and willing to question your ideas and beliefs as a result of those experiences.

Magick can be a painful process. It is not easy to maintain the discipline and honest self-critical approach all the time. It can also be hard work dealing with the energy released without being knocked off balance sometimes. The important thing in these cases is to remain honest and keep at it. Nobody said magick was easy! It takes a lot of practice and hard work and pain, but the rewards are spiritual and mental growth, the joy of life and the beauty of unconditional love. Beyond the limits there are no limits!

Black Magic(k)

THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF BLACK MAGIC

"Some understanding of the intricate theory and practice of ceremonial magic may be derived from a brief consideration of its underlying premises.

First. The visible universe has an invisible counterpart, the higher planes of which are peopled by good and beautiful spirits; the lower planes, dark and foreboding, are the habitation of evil spirits and demons under the leadership of the Fallen Angel and his ten Princes.

Second. By means of the secret processes of ceremonial magic it is possible to contact these invisible creatures and gain their help in some human undertaking. Good spirits willingly lend their assistance to any worthy enterprise, but the evil spirits serve only those who live to pervert and destroy.

Third. It is possible to make contracts with spirits whereby the magician becomes for a stipulated time the master of an elemental being.

Fourth. True black magic is performed with the aid of a demoniacal spirit, who serves the sorcerer for the length of his earthly life, with the understanding that after death the magician shall become the servant of his own demon. For this reason a black magician will go to inconceivable ends to prolong his physical life, since there is nothing for him beyond the grave.

The most dangerous form of black magic is the scientific perversion of occult power for the gratification of personal desire. Its less complex and more universal form is human selfishness, for selfishness is the fundamental cause of all worldly evil. A man will barter his eternal soul for temporal power, and down through the ages a mysterious process has been evolved which actually enables him to make this exchange. In its various branches the black art includes nearly all forms of ceremonial magic, necromancy, witchcraft, sorcery, and vampirism. Under the same general heading are also included mesmerism and hypnotism, except when used solely for medical purposes, and even then there is an element of risk for all concerned.

Though the demonism of the Middle Ages seems to have disappeared, there is abundant evidence that in many forms of modern thought--especially the so-called 'prosperity' psychology, 'willpower-building' metaphysics, and systems of 'high-pressure' salesmanship--

The practice of magic--either white or black--depends upon the ability of the adept to control the universal life force--that which Eliphas Levi calls the great magical agent or the astral light. By the manipulation of this fluidic essence the phenomena of transcendentalism are produced. The famous hermaphroditic Goat of Mendes was a composite creature formulated to symbolize this astral light. It is identical with Baphomet the mystic pantheos of those disciples of ceremonial magic, the Templars, who probably obtained it from the Arabians.

Black magic has merely passed through a metamorphosis, and although its name be changed its nature remains the same.

A well-known magician of the Middle Ages was Dr. Johannes Faustus, more commonly known as Dr. Faust. By a study of magical writings he was enabled to bind to his service an elemental who served him for many years in various capacities. Strange legends are told concerning the magical powers possessed by Dr. Faust. Upon one occasion the philosopher, being apparently in a playful mood, threw his mantle over a number of eggs in a market-woman's basket, causing them to hatch instantly. At another time, having fallen overboard from a small boat, he was picked up and returned to the craft with his clothes still dry. But, like nearly all other magicians, Dr. Faust came at length to disaster; he was found one morning with a knife in his back, and it was commonly believed that his familiar spirit had murdered him. Although Goethe's Dr. Faust is generally regarded as merely a fictional character, this old magician actually lived during the sixteenth century. Dr. Faust wrote a book describing his experiences with spirits, a section of which is reprinted below. (Dr. Faust must not be confused with Johann Fust, the printer.) "

Preparing the God

Spell for the laying of hands upon the God

The Pharaoh speaks unto Re-Harakhte,

"Thoth is come to see you, his nms-cloth at his throne, his tail at his buttocks. Awake you, that you may hear His voice.

Oh, greetings to you, Re-Harakhte, with that which your father Atum has judged you.

My arms are upon you as Horus, my arms are upon you as Thoth, my fingers are upon you as Anubis."

Will and Spellcasting

Will and Spellcasting

By
Rev. Dr. K. A. Sahure, H.P.
The Temple of Kheti

To begin, consider what a spell is since this term has been very misunderstood by many who are outside of the realm of alternative spiritualism and practices, metaphysical science, and magick: In theory and practice, a spell is a method by which energy is moved or transferred; this energy comes from power built up within the practitioner then released in order to carry out or facilitate the spell relative to the four elements (Air, Fire, Water, and Earth) and generally in the presence of a spiritual entity such as a deity or cosmic force summoned directly or via an instrument of divination. Just as the phases of the moon affect the Earth, so does this same lunar activity influences and affects spellcasting.

From a metaphysical and psychological standpoint, the ego or the self plays the role of a conscious mediating agent between the physical being, the spiritual realm, and physical reality-- whether casting magickal spells, performing spiritual rituals, or not. Every action begins within the mind just as every spell begins with a specific need and ultimate goal in mind. The art of spellcasting is a unique form of energy transfer, expression, suggestion, sacred drama, timing, universal balance, and often interconnected with meditation, psychokinesis, telekinesis, and precognition (or clairvoyance).

One's will (i.e., ego infused with the power to produce an effect or cause change to occur) can influence anything and everything if an individual concentrates or focuses her or his will, with intent, on some objective deeply enough consciously or subconsciously. However, with spellcasting, one’s will becomes more intensified due to working with and engaging the elemental forces within nature and spiritual energies within the universe—potentially magnifying, influencing, and thus causing change either mental, physical, or both. Intently thinking about something, in particular, can engage our will to be enforced independent of our conscious thoughts and actions without realizing that we do so at times, thus activating and causing things (good or bad) to occur within our environment and to others. What must be kept in mind is that spellwork is typically well planned and thought out prior to sending forth such powerful energy into the environment.

The average individual might will (i.e., desire or wish for) what he or she may want or would like to occur based on learned conditioning and through social learning processes, experiences, and behaviors learned from a young age; while on the other hand, the spiritual practitioner performs specific spiritual and/or mystical activities deeply rooted in ancient religious traditions, such as spellwork, rituals, divination, prayer, etc., in order to achieve what he/she wants, affect or cause change, influence future events, or to merely help someone else.

In closing, a magickal one’s will plus spellcasting should never be taken lightly due to the enormous amount of etheric energy she/he is able to produce, work with, shape, and thus emit into the immediate environment and onward into our universe. There is an interdependence between the universe, mysticism, nature, and physics. Spellcasting is esoteric and arcane yet a natural and physical art to be explored, understood, practiced, and to behold!

Days of the Week Correspondences

Spell Casting: Days of the Week Correspondences

This is a treatment about the corresponding days of the week which are good for casting spells:

Monday (Moon)
This day is ruled by lunar energy, psychic abilities (clairvoyance) and pursuits, dream work, spellwork involving emotional, family, and feminine issues; astral work and projection, and scrying (looking into the invisible or nether world by gazing at or into a crystal ball, pool of water, or blackened mirror for knowledge, intuition, and to predict the future), childbirth, and general domestic spirituality. Biological influence: Brain, left eye, digestion, right arm, and intestines.

Tuesday (Mars)
This day is ruled by the God of War who also is the God of Agriculture—two forms of massive energy, one for war and destruction, self-assertion, directing one’s actions for the best results, strength, and courage; and the other for seeding and planting, growth, and harvesting; masculine issues, spells requiring high energy, and ceremonial magick; and spells of desire and passion for things one wants. Biological influence: Left ear, reproductive organs, lungs, kidneys, and gall bladder

Wednesday (Mercury)
This day is ruled by the messenger of the gods. Divination, consulting with the oracles, and planning rituals; communication, learning and wisdom, travel, creativity and self expression, and spells involving inductive and deductive reasoning and mental issues. Biological influence: Right hand, tongue, liver, right foot, and brain.

Thursday (Jupiter)
This day is ruled by the processes in your life, your philosophical levels of thinking, and how you relate to the rest of the world mentally; spells for wealth, prosperity, money, luck (games of chance); business activities, expansion, ventures; political power and influence, insurance matters and legal affairs. Biological influence: Ribs, stomach, circulatory system, forehead, lungs, and liver.

Friday (Venus)
This day is ruled by the Goddess of Beauty and Love; spells for love, marriage, romance, relationships, beauty, sensuality and seduction, healing, artistic ability, peace, music and entertainment, passion, the environment, harmony, charisma, and magnetic attraction. Be very wary and careful when casting spells of the heart because these types of spells are difficult to reverse and undo. Biological influence: Reproductive organs, left arm, throat, liver, and stomach.

Saturday (Saturn)
This day is ruled by how structure in the cycles of your life is perceived either as an obstacle, limitation, repression, oppression, and restriction or as a way for you to conduct and lead a productive, balanced, and orderly life; this is a day of great Karmic influences and activities; spells for protection, spells that involve neutralizing harmful energy and obstacles, bindings, banishings; and spells which free you and your spirit. Biological influence: Spleen, teeth, bladder, brain, right ear, and left foot.

Sunday (Sun)
This day is ruled by vitality, energy, illumination, and reflectivity of the Sun God Ra/Re; this is a very good day for all kinds of eclectic spellwork and magickal activities involving health, healing, and overall well-being; this includes spell casting and ritual work centered around power and strength, achieving one’s goals and success in life, joy and happiness, career, sports, and prosperity. Biological influence: Brain, heart, head, and right eye.

Monologue: Rituals & Spellwork

All of my rituals and spellwork are done very differently today than when I started a little over 25 years ago. They are more and more adept and reflective of the ancient ways of Witchcraft as performed back then. In addition and since 1996 after becoming an ordained minister--my opening ceremonies, rituals, formal ceremonies, and spell casting are different in that they are based on a more structured/liturgical approach which are also influenced by my training during my coven years as well as growing along my spiritual path.

For example, in the beginning, my spells and rituals were very simplistic, routine, brief, awkward, haphazard, and ineffective; and I didn't take into account the day of the week, time of day, position of the moon and planets, environmental factors, color(s) of the day, crystals to use or not to use, etc.; whereas now, I take all of these matters into consideration and much more due to having several mentors over the years and having lived in a coven. Coven life taught me a great deal about the right and wrong ways of doing things, divination, prayer, meditation, energy, spell and ritual preparation/structure, High (or Ceremonial) Magick, participation in the Esbats & Sabbats, and many other useful things I probably would not have picked up on if I had just been a Solitary Witch all of my life. I would say that my Magick is much more powerful, effective, and resulting than yesteryear.

Time, learning, experience, and practice have allowed me to perform very complex Magick today as I continue to enhance and refine the spiritual gifts and skills bestowed upon me by my deities. The manner in which I write spells and rituals today is a lot more adept and
complex than way back when as this should become over time.
