Santería: A Practical Guide

Santería, A Practical Guide toAfro-Caribbean Magic

Introduction

Santeria is not an archaic religion. It is a vibrant force with five hundred years of continuous history in the Western Hemisphere. Its African roots go back at least as far as Christianity's.

Santeria has millions of followers spread across the United States, the Caribbean, Central, and South America. There is Voodoo in Haiti, Macumba in Brazil and Candomble in the Northern coasts of South America. Its adherents come from all walks o f life; doctors, lawyers, politicians, thieves and pimps. All those who seek the power to control their own lives and want to lead them in accord with the deepest parts of their beings are candidates for initiation into Santeria. As the traditional belief systems of the Western world cease to provide a direct emotional involvement with the mysteries of life, more and more people are turning to the throbbing of the Santeria drums. It is a religion of trance, mystery, posse ssion, blood and sex. What follows is a brief glimpse into Santeria. If you want to know more, go to the ceremonies, burn the candles and dance to the drums. Skin color or language are no barriers. The ancient gods will recognize their own.

Tarot: The Thoth Deck

The Thoth Tarot Deck
By Craig Malone

The Thoth Tarot Deck was a tarot deck developed by the English occultist Aleister Crowley and illustrated on his instructions by Lady Frieda Harris. Aleister Crowley called the Thoth tarot deck, the book of Thoth and claimed that the deck reflected the wisdom of the ancient Egyptian book of Thoth. The tarot card descriptions found on the Thoth Tarot deck are different in symbolism and imagery compared to other standard tarot card decks.

Thoth is considered one of the most important deities of the ancient Egyptian pantheon. He is known as the God with the head of an ibis. He is the heart and tongue of the all-powerful Egyptian Sun God Ra. He translated the will of Ra into speech and is the divine communicator of Egyptian mythology. He was the scribe of the Gods and was called the God of Writing. The book of Thoth is used for divination through tarot cards. The tarot card descriptions on the Thoth deck are reflections of the great knowledge of the ancient Egyptians.

A cult of Thoth grew during the last years of the Egyptian civilization who claimed to predict the future through occult divination. Aleister Crowley claims that the Thoth tarot deck developed by him was based on the tarot card descriptions followed by the cult of Thoth. He developed the deck between 1938 and 1943. He commissioned Lady Frieda Harris to illustrate the deck based on his visions and based on the ancient Egyptian book of Thoth papyrus by Jasnow and Zauzich. It took five years to develop the deck because Crowley wanted the images to reflect different disciplines including science and philosophy.

The tarot card descriptions in the Crowley Thoth tarot deck are different from the Rider Waite and other standard tarot card decks. The Major Arcana or trump cards are 21 in number and consist of the fool, the Magician or Magus, the high Priestess, the Emperor, the Empress, the Hierophant, the lovers, the chariot, Adjustment, the hermit, the wheel of fortune, lust, the hanged man, death, art, devil, tower, star, moon, sun, aeon and the universe. Court cards in the Thoth minor Arcana deck are the prince, the princess, queen and the knight. While the suite of cups, disks, swords and wands remain the same, they are illustrated with an Egyptian hieroglyphic style. The pips of the minor Arcana in the Thoth deck relate to the signs of the zodiac with the aces depicting the root of the element they represent. Each pip card in each suite has an attribute.

The wand suite relates to the fire signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the fire element 2 dominions, 3 virtues, 4 completion, 5 strife, 6 victory, 7valor, 8 swiftness, 9 strength and 10 oppression.

The cup suite represents the water signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the water element, 2 love,3 abundance, 4 luxury, 5 disappointment, 6 pleasure, 7 debauchery, 8 indolence, 9 happiness and 10 safety.

The sword suite represents the air signs of the zodiac. The ace represents the root of the air element 2 peace, 3 sorrow, 4 truces, 5 defeats, 6 science, 7 futility, 8 interference, 9 cruelty and 10 ruin.

The disks suite represents the earth signs of the zodiac. The ace is the root of the earth element, 2 change, 3 work, 4 power, 5 worry, 6 success, 7 failure, 8 prudence, 9 gain and 10 wealth.

The Thoth tarot deck reflects the tarot card descriptions that formed the visions of Aleister Crowley on a visit to Egypt. Many diviners have found great merit in predicting the future using the Thoth Tarot deck.

Carl Jung's Dream Theories
By Christina Sponias

Jung believed that the human psyche was divided in two parts-the conscious and the unconscious mind.

According to Jung, the center of the human psyche should not be considered the person's ego. Instead the center is the Self, which contains more than the conscious content. The Self is the completion of the human psyche, after someone has developed all of his or her psychological functions.

The unconscious mind is divided in personal and collective distinctions. The personal part contains someone's individual experiences, while the collective part has general content existent in all human beings. The collective part is represented in dreams by the archetypes, which are symbols that appear in everyone's dreams, in all historical times and civilizations.

The main dream symbols that appear in everyone's dreams according to Jung's statements are:

1. The Persona-This is the image that the individual presents to the world, like a social mask. The persona would reflect the person's social position, profession, and status quo.

2. The Shadow-This is the part of the human psyche that is not developed yet. The shadow contains positive and negative characteristics, depending on someone's personal evolution.

3. The Animus or Anima-This is the image of the ideal type of man for a woman, or the ideal type of woman for a man. The animus, or anima, is an idol, but could represent a real person of the person's environment.

Carl Jung concluded that each dreamer who decides to discover the content existent in his or her own psyche through the interpretation of dreams would make a trip to the Self.

Jung managed to prove to the world that our dreams follow a sequence, helping everyone evolve as they learn more about the content of their psyche. This is how people are transformed and start to accept other aspects of life, which they were not able to absorb before the dream analysis.

We have four psychological functions-thoughts, feelings, sensations, and intuition. The more developed of the functions in someone's psyche will determine his or her psychological type.

In addition to the four functions, everyone has a certain attitude that will characterize them as extroverted or introverted. The extroverted psychological types will always agree with the general opinion about reality, while the introverted psychological types will always have their personal opinion, which will usually be totally different from the general consensus.

Continuing Jung's research in the unknown region of the human psyche, I can verify that his theories are correct with the exception of his belief that the unconscious mind contains negative aspects. Instead, it is another part of the human psyche, the primitive side of the human conscience, which concentrates all the negative characteristics of someone's personality. Therefore, Jung's theory concerning the negative segments of our mind is absurd because the primitive side was not developed like the human part of our conscience and provokes all existent mental illnesses to the human side of our conscience. The unconscious part of our being is only wise.

Everyone can transform the negative and dangerous part of their psyche in a positive part of their human side by translating their dreams according to the scientific method, and following the directions of the wise unconscious mind that produces our dreams.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

On Psychic Ability

Psychic Ability: Clairvoyant is Having Clear Visibility in a Complex World

Author: Tolga Savas

Clairvoyant is a psychic ability to sense something or someone without the normal human senses or without any outside input. There are many psychics clairvoyants online who offer clairvoyant readings alongside their other abilities. This term (clairvoyance) covers all the methods which a psychic senses about things that has happened in the past or will happen in the future. The word clairvoyance originates from French language with Clair meaning (clear) and voyance meaning (visibility). This form of psychic ability is very common for a psychic to possess; it covers everything from hunches to telepathy.

Within our past history those who claimed themselves to be spiritual mystics, soothsayers, fortune tellers, clairvoyants, and psychics use this form of clairvoyance to see clearly the heart of the matter in question. This form of psychic ability is ancient and has answered people in high authority as well as masses through out ages. Bible itself documents many clairvoyant prophecies.

This state of seeing things with clear vision from spiritual dimensions can be attained through either meditation or at will for psychics, experienced and highly attuned psychics can obtain states of clairvoyance without going in to states of trances (such as meditation). There are also different variations of clairvoyance, such as cledonomancy (through interpreting statements, random remarks or events) knowing what will be said in the first few minutes of conversation also from it predicting the future by content of spoken remarks.

Those spiritually minded people who know the accuracy of psychic readings do understand different abilities psychics possess as for clairvoyance in scientific community is perceived as fake and they believe it has no basis in reality. Also some people believe clairvoyance to be a sense just like any other five humanly senses. I guess everybody is entitled to their beliefs. Yet the metaphysical world will suggest that their legitimacy and their accuracy are proven time and time again on clairvoyance.

There are many online psychic services which offer all things metaphysical, clairvoyant readings, psychic readings, divination readings using divination tools such as tarot cards, coffee cup readings rune stones and kumalak readings, astrology are just a few tools which can assist psychic to further their readings. Also online divination practitioners who specialize in divination readings can also be very insightful and helpful to those who are interested in insights from spiritual realms.

With internet technologies advancing almost everyday, it is now very easy to find information on psychic clairvoyance also you can find a clairvoyant to give you live online clairvoyant readings. There are many ways a psychic can do a reading, be it using their clairvoyance ability or channeling, and you may find the results astounding. Learn Self Hypnosis - The Secret of Achieving a Deep State of Hypnosis

Author: Ryan T J

If you go to any hypnosis seminars or just try to find some information about self hypnosis, most likely you will find one question that is usually asked by people who are new to self hypnosis. "How to easily achieve a deep state of hypnosis?" To tell you the truth, at the early stage of my quest for learning self hypnosis, I also had some difficulties entering the state. I tried to follow the step by step instructions from the self hypnosis CDs that I bought, but the result was minimal at best. It was like there is a hidden wall blocking my way of entering. At that time, I thought I just needed some more practice. But, for some reason I kept having the same problem, until I finally found out the real reasons behind it.

Do you also encounter the same problem? Have you been trying hard to achieve this state with minimal result? Don't worry, actually it's not that difficult to do, once you understand these concepts that I am about to tell you.

1. Willingness to be hypnotized. First, you have to understand that the instructions the hypnotist provides in the self hypnosis CDs are only guides to assist you in entering the state. But at the end, your willingness to be hypnotized is very crucial in determining your ability to enter the state. So, before starting your session, decide that you really want to do this from the bottom of your heart.

2. Elimination of fear. Fear can prevent you from being able to enter the state. Actually it's inversely correlated with your ability to enter the state. The more intense the fear, the more difficult it's for you to enter a state of hypnosis. Try to find good and reliable info about what self hypnosis is and what it can really do for you. This can eliminate the hidden fears and misconception that you might have inside you.

3. Misconception about physical relaxation. When we talk about the subject of self hypnosis, the common knowledge that people have is that to be able to enter a state of hypnosis, you have to be physically relaxed. It's true that one of the characteristics of a person under hypnosis is physical relaxation. But, when your body is physically relaxed, it doesn't mean you are in a state of hypnosis. Referring to the US Dept of Education definition, "hypnosis is the bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind followed by the establishment of acceptable selective thinking". You can see that there is no mention of physical relaxation or any relaxation at all.

4. Try different induction techniques. One of the most commonly used techniques to bring you into a state of hypnosis is commonly known as progressive relaxation/fractional relaxation. Using this technique, you are asked to progressively relax your body from head to toe. This technique is actually only suitable for certain kind of people. If you find that this technique is not effective for you, try to use different induction techniques. A good author of self hypnosis CDs usually combine several techniques to make it easier for you to enter the state.

A History of Witchcraft and Magic

The history of witchcraft and magic
An historical overview of how modern-day magic evolved from the beliefs and customs of the Celts and other ancient, Indo-European peoples.

The roots of magic come from the Celts, a people living between 700 BC and 100 AD. Believed to be descendants of Indo-Europeans, the Celts were a brilliant and dynamic people – gifted artists, musicians, storytellers, metalworkers, expert farmers and fierce warriors. They were much feared by their adversaries, the Romans, who eventually adopted a number of their customs and traditions.

The Celts were a deeply spiritual people, who worshiped both a god and goddess. Their religion was pantheistic, meaning they worshiped many aspects of the "One Creative Life Source" and honored the presence of the "Divine Creator" in all of nature. Like many tribes the world over, they believed in reincarnation. After death, they went to the Summerland for rest and renewal while awaiting rebirth.

The months of the Celtic year were named after trees. The Celtic new year began at Samhain, which means "summers end," and was the final harvest of the year. This was also their "Festival of the Dead," where they honored their ancestors and deceased loved ones. Many contemporary Halloween customs come from Samhain.

Next on the wheel of the Celtic year was the Winter Solstice, celebrating the annual rebirth of the Sun. Our Christmas customs today are similar to this ancient celebration. Around the beginning of February came Imbolg, a time when domesticated animals began to give birth. The Spring Equinox and Beltaine, sometimes called "May Day," were fertility festivals. The Summer Solstice, known as Lughnassa, celebrated the glory of the Sun and the powers of nature. Lughnassa, the Fall Equinox, and Samhain, were considered as Celtic harvest festivals.

The "Druids" were the priests of the Celtic religion. They remained in power through the fourth century AD, three centuries after the Celts' defeat at the hands of the Romans. The Druids were priests, teachers, judges, astrologers, healers and bards. They became indispensable to the political leaders, giving them considerable power and influence. They were peacemakers, and were able to pass from one warring tribe to another unharmed. It took twenty years of intense study to become a Druid.

Translated, the word Druid means "knowing the oak tree." Trees, the oak in particular, were held sacred by the Celts. Mistletoe, which grows as a parasite on oak trees, was a powerful herb used in their ceremonies and for healing. Mistletoe was ritually harvested at the Summer Solstice by cutting it with a golden sickle and catching it with a white cloth while never letting it fall to the ground.

The religious beliefs and practices of the Celts grew into what later became known as Paganism, not to be confused with the term Neo-Paganism, which is beyond the scope of this writing. The word Pagan is derived from the Latin word Paganus, meaning "country dweller." This outgrowth was consistent with the Celts' love for the land and their holding such things as the oak tree and mistletoe sacred.

Paganistic beliefs and rituals blended with those of other Indo-European descended groups, and over several centuries spawned such practices as concocting potions and ointments, casting spells, and performing works of magic. These practices, along with many of the nature-based beliefs held by the Celts and other groups, became collectively known as witchcraft.

The term witch, which means to "twist or bend," has its origin in the ancient, Anglo-Saxon word "wicca," which is derived from the word "wicce," which means "wise." Witch is also related to the German word, "weihen," which means "to consecrate or bless." Some say that the origins of the witch date back thousands of years, to the days when the goddess was worshiped and humanity had great reverence for the powers of nature and for women as creators of new life. In the "New Age" philosophy, this relates to the concept of "Gaia," or "Mother Earth," which views planet earth as essentially a living being.

Prior to the 14th century, witchcraft came to mean a collection of beliefs and practices including healing through spells, mixing ointments or concoctions, dabbling in the supernatural, divining or forecasting the future, and engaging in clairvoyance. Groups holding to other beliefs and rituals often branded witchcraft as "demon-worship."

After North America was discovered and Europeans began migrating to the new land, witchcraft came into practice by some of the early, colonial settlers. Since it had previously been branded as "demon-worship," witchcraft was forbidden throughout the North American colonies. Despite this decree by the powers of the day, some colonists secretly practiced witchcraft knowing they would be hanged or burned if caught. It has been said that certain rituals performed by early-American witches helped shield their settlements from attacks by Native Americans.

Magic can effect many outcomes, some good and some evil, depending on the type of magic and the intentions of the practitioner. The more well-known types of magic are denoted by colors.

"Black magic" is performed with the intention of harming another being, either as a means of building the practitioner's power or as the goal itself. The underlying ideology upon which black magic is based states that the practitioner and his or her pursuit of knowledge and/or physical well-being, are more important than other concerns, theological or ethical. "Green magic" involves the practitioner's attuning himself or herself to nature and the world around him or her. "White magic" is where the practitioner attunes himself or herself to the needs of human society and attempts to meet those needs. This is a form of "personal betterment" magic, and does not entail harming other beings.

"Grey magic" is magic that is neither green, nor black, nor white, and which usually replaces the absolute stand of these realms with an ethical code that is particular to the practitioner. It is a type of magic all its own, and may be used for many different purposes. "Folk magic" is an eclectic collection of herbalism, faith healing, curses and hexes, candle magic, and other workings that has thrived in rural areas for centuries. There is also the term, "hedge wizard," which refers to an individual who attempts to practice magic with little or no formal training.

Types of Psychic Abilities - Precognition
By
Miles Tyler

There are many different ways in which your psychic potential can express itself. All of the various types of psychic abilities are the same energy manifesting in different ways. Psychic perception is extremely versatile and thus goes by a number of labels. Ultimately though they are all the same ability given different names under different circumstances. This includes one of the more seemingly elusive psychic abilities known as precognition.

Precognition is the ability to be aware of or envision future events before they actually occur. I like to call it "pre-membering". Like many forms of psychic perception, precognition can occur when we are conscious or while we are asleep. Also like many other types of psychic abilities, precognition occurs most often while you are asleep.

This is possible because there is less interference from our conscious mind when we are sleeping. This means that the creative/intuitive right-brain is free to process non-rational thoughts without the critical/analytical left brain filtering out the things it can't make sense of. That is why we are more open to psychic experiences such as precognition when we are sleeping than we are when we are wide awake.

There are many hypothetical explanations as to why precognition is even possible. I have formulated a few myself. One is that linear time is an illusion created by the limitations of our five physical senses and that we actually possess the ability to consciously access the sum total of our being in multiple dimensions including time.

Another is that the universe is completely cyclical in nature and that each cycle is only slightly different than the rest. And each time a previous cycle is completed there are trace memories left behind in the wake of its existence. In other words this has all happened before and at times we can remember it.

My final and favorite theory is that the universe and everything in it, including us, is an interconnected web of energy that is held together throughout time and space and we potentially have complete access to the sum total of it: past, present, and future.

My own experiences with precognition have lead me to believe that, regardless of the reason, there is a transmission of energy taking place on the quantum level. That at various times you can experience a type of 4th dimensional telepathy between your present self and your future self. It is as if a bridge or loop of conscious energy forms and is exchanged between one's own mind in two different points in space-time. Sort of like a coronal loop that forms on the surface of the sun.

I have found that it can actually help to visualize this last scenario when attempting to consciously experience precognition. It also helps to visualize a target such as the headline on tomorrow's newspaper. When attempting to perform any type of psychic perception it always helps to concentrate on a specific goal or target. A focused mind is more powerful because less energy is wasted when our thoughts are focused.

Personally, I have been experiencing precognition since I was in my teens. It began after my father passed on and at first it was uncontrolled and completely spontaneous occurring while I was dreaming. Early episodes of precognition where about mundane events that happened at first within minutes of awakening and then later they were spaced further and further into the future. Now they vary from near future events to decades away.

Now I no longer have to be asleep to experience precognition. When I have the time and proper amount of solitude, I can accurately view future targets and information as long as I am in a relaxed meditative state. When I am preforming any of the many types of psychic abilities, the less I consciously know about the target the better. This is an important thing to remember. It seems that the more information you consciously know about what you are trying to perceive, the less accurate your reading due to interference from the logical rational part of the mind.

Teleology

"Teleology (Greek: telos: end, purpose) is the philosophical study of design and purpose. A teleological school of thought is one that holds all things to be designed for or directed toward a final result, that there is an inherent purpose or final cause for all that exists.

As a school of thought it can be contrasted with metaphysical naturalism, which views nature as having no design or purpose. Teleology would say that a person has eyes because he has the need of eyesight (form following function), while naturalism would say that a person has sight because he has eyes (function following form).

In European philosophy, teleology may be identified with Aristotelianism and the scholastic tradition. Most theology presupposes a teleology: design in nature can be used as a teleological argument for the existence of God. Aristotle's analysis of four causes speaks of a material cause, efficient cause, and formal cause but all these serve a final cause.

Later teleology was fundamental to the speculative philosophy of Hegel and was explored in detail by Immanuel Kant in his Critique of Judgement.

In general it may be said that there are two types of final cause, which may be called intrinsic finality and extrinsic finality.

▪ Extrinsic finality consists of a being realizing a purpose outside that being, for the utility and welfare of other beings. For instance, minerals are 'designed' to be used by plants which are in turn 'designed' to be used by animals - and similarly humanity serves some ultimate good beyond itself.

▪ Intrinsic finality consists of a being realizing a purpose directed toward the perfection of its own nature. In essence, it is what is 'good for' a being. Just as physical masses obey universal gravitational tendencies, which did not evolve, but are simply a cosmic 'given,' so life is intended to behave in certain ways so as to preserve itself from death, disease, and pain."

Ancient Egypt: Religious Thought Development

"Contrary to the popular and current impression, the most important body of sacred literature in Egypt is not the Book of the Dead, but a much older literature which we now call the 'Pyramid Texts.' These texts, preserved in the Fifth and Sixth Dynasty Pyramids at Sakkara, form the oldest body of literature surviving from the ancient world and disclose to us the earliest chapter in the intellectual history of man as preserved to modern times. They are to the study of Egyptian language and civilization what the Vedas have been in the study of early East Indian and Aryan[1] culture. Discovered in 1880–81, they were published by Maspero in a pioneer edition which will always remain a great achievement and a landmark in the history of Egyptology. The fact that progress has been made in the publication of such epigraphic work is no reflection upon the devoted labors of the distinguished first editor of the Pyramid Texts. The appearance last year of the exhaustive standard edition of the hieroglyphic text at the hands of Sethe after years of study and arrangement marks a new epoch in the study of earliest Egyptian life and religion. How comparatively inaccessible the Pyramid Texts have been until the appearance of Sethe's edition is best illustrated by the fact that no complete analysis or full account of the Pyramid Texts as a whole has ever appeared in English, much less an English version of them. The great and complicated fabric of life which they reflect to us, the religious and intellectual forces which have left their traces in them, the intrusion of the Osiris faith and the Osirian editing by the hand of the earliest redactor in literary history—all these and many other fundamental disclosures of this earliest body of literature have hitherto been inaccessible to the English reader, and as far as they are new, also to all."

Hypnosis: Fact or Fiction?

Hypnosis Fact and Fiction

Author: Veda Kalidas

There are many misconceptions of what hypnosis is. Most of these misconceptions are perpetuated by the popular media. The truth is, hypnosis has been used throughout history and continues to be used today, both legitimately and fraudulently. I decided to write this article to clarify just what hypnosis is exactly and what it is not for inquiring minds and to help those that could truly benefit from the true, legitimate practice of hypnosis.

I will start by addressing the misconceptions of hypnosis and tell you WHAT HYPNOSIS IS NOT. Hypnosis is not a form of mind control despite its portrayal in movies as such… you know, the guy dressed in the black tuxedo with big, bushy eyebrows that can swing his pocket watch as a pendulum before people’s eyes to make them cluck like chickens upon the snap of his fingers… No, hypnosis is not capable of taking over another’s free will. Hypnosis is not brainwashing and is not capable of controlling a person’s behavior and judgment. Hypnosis is not caused by the hypnotist’s “power”, as this would allude to the possibility of “mind control” of which there is no hard scientific evidence.

It is also a big misconception that hypnosis is possible only upon weak-minded individuals. In actuality the ability to enter a hypnotic state has nothing to do with one’s intelligence. The hypnotic state can be reached by any individual through self-hypnosis techniques however the ability to be hypnotized by an outside party (hypnotist) is dependent more upon genetic factors. Neither is hypnosis dependent upon individuals with vivid and overactive imaginations.

Hypnosis as a process is not necessarily time-consuming nor does it require the subject to be completely relaxed. And although named for the god of sleep, hypnosis is not sleep. According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, hypnosis is “a trancelike state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject”.

Now I will delve into what hypnosis is and real world applications of hypnosis. There is a plethora of ways in which hypnosis has been and still is used today in treating mental, physical and social problems.

Hypnosis is used to treat obesity, anxiety, depression, phobias, fears and habits such as quitting smoking. Hypnosis is used to alleviate the pain associated with cancer and other chronic illnesses. Hypnosis is also used in dentistry (hypnodontia) to decrease anxieties and make patients feel more comfortable with the dental experience. Hypnosis is used to treat skin diseases through a practice known as hypnodermatology.

Mental health applications of hypnosis include the treatment of dissociative disorders, depression and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). Hypnosis is used in the educational field to increase memory and learning capacity as well as focus and energy. Hypnosis is also used to improve self-esteem and confidence.

Altered states of consciousness such as relaxation, meditation and sleep have been achieved through hypnosis. Self-hypnosis with binaural beat audio is used to achieve states allowing for astral projection, remote viewing, past life regression, ESP and telepathy. Of interesting note, binaural beats have been used by top secret members of the US government to utilize remote viewing tactics.

Hypnosis has been used in the past to suppress pain during medical procedures before the advent of chemical pain killers and anesthesia. And let us not forget a very important use of hypnosis… entertainment. Unfortunately entertainment is one of the prime sources leading to the many misconceptions involved with hypnosis.

Despite the misconceptions of hypnosis perpetuated through popular culture and the entertainment industry, hypnosis remains a powerful tool that continues to be used today in the medical, mental health and self-help fields to help people to live better, live longer and enhance their lives.

If you are interested in learning more about using hypnosis to achieve altered states quickly and easily to enhance your life, you may want to look into brainwave entrainment. Brainwave entrainment is the process of using audio frequencies, called binaural beats, to achieve altered states of consciousness. Binaural beats can achieve almost any state of consciousness in about 5-10 minutes.
