Prayer to the Four Directions

Prayer to the Four Directions

Hail, thou shining one who livest in the temple wherein are the gods in visible forms,

Thou beautiful rudder of the eastern heaven.

Hail Asar, of the east, of fire.

You are the spirit of the sunrise and you awaken in this sanctuary and it is filled with your light.

Hail, thou who dwellest in the temple of the bright-faced ones,

Thou beautiful rudder of the southern heaven.

Hail Nebet-Het, of the south, of water.

You who are as blue as Nut.

You accompany those who enter the barque of Ra.

Hail, thou who goest round about heaven,

Thou pilot of the worlds,

Thou beautiful rudder of the western heaven.

Hail, Aset, of the west, of the air.

Whose mouth is wise, the all-powerful one of the Hekau.

Hail, thou beautiful power,

Thou rudder of the northern heaven.

Hail Anpu, of the north, of the earth.

He who is on his mountain,

Opener of the ways.
