Here are some of my thoughts concerning these recent Newsweek articles:

The United States of America does indeed have a diversely rich religious history. Today, there are many different religious and spiritual faiths for anyone to freely choose from. The so-called “changing attitude” toward religion and faith in America is presumed to mean Christianity (i.e., one of the mainstream Abrahamic religions--a terminology commonly and collectively attributed to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; there are other religions that fall into this category also).

In general, there is no doubt that many religions (whether mainstream or alternative faiths), have played an important role in the shaping of one's core moral and ethical values but this should be not to the extent of influencing socio-economic and political thought, the promotion of personal or group specific political agenda, and/or the passage of legislation. Religion, as a whole, should not be used as an instrument of suffusion to polarize, oppress, repress, suppress, or control a people, religious group, or populace in any manner or form. Instead, religion and its leadership should focus on bringing diverse groups of people together in peace, harmony, and human fellowship no matter one's creed, spiritual path, or non-religious affiliation. One’s chosen spiritual path should be a holistically nurturing, supportive, interactive, and integrative learning process and experience where your thoughts, opinions, meditations, and concerns are valued and taken seriously. This is an area where many faiths and their spiritual overseers flatly lose ground and eventually their members. Moreover, no single religious faith should be permitted or able to dominate over all other religions, spiritual paths or belief systems ever—this is a very basic concept. Religion and politics should be kept separate as both do powerfully interact throughout and affect the daily lives of all people as derived from the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.

All in all, it is imperative that all religious faiths, spiritual paths, and their leaders of today address, support, and meet the needs of their diverse membership—that is, from teaching through spiritual counseling. Religious tolerance, education, fairness, and open-mindedness are the keys to unblocking the doors to social, economic, and political change in a world of ethnocultural diversity.

Yes, many human beings have been financially (and Economics 101 wise) battered, beatened, 401k raped and pension-violated along with the loss of your homes, jobs, and health care benefits in America--and going from unemployment to poverty due to NO FAULT of your own in one fell swoop!

And the Temple of Kemetic Wicca IS NOT speaking about being prepared in terms of the silliness of monochromatic / monotheistic machinations of salvation--because there is no such entity as "salvation" from any non-existent, fictional messiah!

Again, ARE YOU PREPARED?

Petitioner church and its congregants practice the Santeria religion, which employs animal sacrifice as one of its principal forms of devotion. The animals are killed by cutting their carotid arteries, and are cooked and eaten following all Santeria rituals except healing and death rites. After the church leased land in respondent city and announced plans to establish a house of worship and other facilities there, the city council held an emergency public session and passed, among other enactments Resolution 87-66, which noted city residents' "concern" over religious practices inconsistent with public morals, peace, or safety, and declared the city's "commitment" to prohibiting such practices; Ordinance 87-40, which incorporates the Florida animal cruelty laws and broadly punishes "[w]hoever . . . unnecessarily or cruelly . . . kills any animal," and has been interpreted to reach killings for religious reasons; Ordinance 87-52, which defines "sacrifice" as "to unnecessarily kill . . . an animal in a . . . ritual . . . not for the primary purpose of food consumption," and prohibits the "possess[ion], sacrifice, or slaughter" of an animal if it is killed in "any type of ritual" and there is an intent to use it for food, but exempts "any licensed [food] establishment" if the killing is otherwise permitted by law; Ordinance 87-71, which prohibits the sacrifice of animals, and defines "sacrifice" in the same manner as Ordinance 87-52; and Ordinance 87-72 which defines "slaughter" as "the killing of animals for food" and prohibits slaughter outside of areas zoned for slaughterhouses, but includes an exemption for "small numbers of hogs and/or cattle" when exempted by state law. Petitioners filed this suit under 42 U.S.C. 1983, alleging violations of their rights under, inter alia, the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment. Although acknowledging that the foregoing ordinances are not religiously neutral, the District Court ruled for the city, concluding, among other things, that compelling governmental interests in preventing public health risks and cruelty to animals fully justified the absolute prohibition on ritual sacrifice accomplished by the ordinances, and that an exception to that prohibition for religious conduct would unduly interfere with fulfillment of the governmental interest, because any more narrow restrictions would [508 U.S. 520, 521] be unenforceable as a result of the Santeria religion's secret nature. The Court of Appeals affirmed.

The roots of today's so-called "mainstream (Abrahamic) world religions" have absolutely evolved out of culturally indigenous religio-spiritual practices of our ancestors.

The prevailing "rhetorical" questions remain:

1. Who "borrowed" from whom?
(This answer is obvious based upon historical truths!)

2. Are not all so-called Abrahamic world religions of today Pagan in deference to the same culturally indigenous religio-spiritual practices of our ancestors?

All in all, and please take note of the true and actual definition, meaning, or etymology (i.e., the study of the origin and history of words) of the terms Wicca, Witchcraft, Pagan, Witch, Paganism, etc. None of these words or terminologies actually support what the misinformed mainstream religious "pundits" have created, promoted, disseminated, and perpetuated for centuries through the here and now!

Thus, how does anyone proclaim or affirm that there is a spiritual connection between the diverse belief systems of Wicca (nature-based, polytheistic, pantheistic, matriarchal and patriarchal, and goddess (yin)-god (yang) forms) and Christianity (monotheistic and patriarchal ONLY--and always out of balance and out of synchronization within the universe, the universal forces of nature, the energies of life and spirit within the cosmos which has contributed majorly to chaos globally during all of our mundane presentations of everyday life).

Opinion & Editorial:

Treatise: Unemployment, within and among the age 40+ ranks, has spread like a rabid disease all across the United States of America. In addition, there the "At-Will Employment or Employment At-Will" States of America which gives the employer the upper hand as usual and has led to discriminatory hiring and firing (i.e., Wrongful Termination) practices via employers. Your Age, Race, Disability, Gender, Religious Preference, Credit Score, Sexual Preference, Level of Education, etc. can be used against any employed person or job-seeker and be disguised as "something else" other than the afore-mentioned categories to not hire you or terminate your present employment position (i.e., your job, your department, etc.). And guess what? There isn't much the average employee or job-seeker can do to remedy this let alone level the playing field so that there are TRUE EQUAL EMPLOYMENT opportunities and fair practices (unless you have buckets and buckets of money just sitting around to retain experienced and knowledgeable legal counsel to go up against BIG BUSINESS, you will lose your legal case, should it get that far, and will be BLACK-BALLED as a bona fide undesirable potential employee within the corporate sector as being “not a good fit”)…gee, I’m sure that we all are not referring to “intimate relations”.

Caveat: For those of you who have not experienced "corporate downsizing or restructuring", and with much hope that you never do, then please become more aware of what is happening in your own backyard to your friends, family members, and associates concerning the rampant unemployment problems in America. Those of you who have never been unemployed due to NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN, have no clue!

Many of you DO NOT know what it takes to conduct and ENDURE the rigorous amount of time, effort, and costs of the job search. Networking is all about whom you know and not what you know as well as how much rear-end (or whatever physiological human parts) you are willing and able to kiss—let the facts be known. Nepotism is still rampant within the workforce. The “Old Boy” network is still alive and kicking just as the “Old Girl” network has emerged and come into fruition. Compose and send all of the “thank you” and “cover” letters you wish to and have done so—these exercises in futility (and frankly, a waste of time because they don’t get read due to the huge influx of resumes e-mailed and snail-mailed to potential employers). These activities just keep you broke by spending hundreds of dollars on printer ink cartridges even when these are supposed to be “ON SALE”. Let’s not go into the realm of local and virtual Job Fairs. There is way too much subjectivity in the interviewing process that favors the employer in any shape of the American economy. If you have not completed your Master’s degree requirements, then you’re truly in a quandary. You can show and present all of the value you will bring to any company—but you do not have that piece of paper in-hand! And you will be looked at as over-qualified as well as “suspect” due to your not having finished your degree. Most often, students DO NOT finish their degree requirements because of the outrageous cost of education and the lack of financial support from our U.S. Government should you default on your undergrad or post secondary school loan(s). The U.S. Department of Education has not figured out let alone realized that it should allow for “re-education” monies even if someone hasn’t paid off their prior student loan(s). And yes, some parents are the cause of this student loan issue because they push their children into fields that “they like” or wanted to be in but were not able to. For example—just because your child shows some promise in mathematics or physics does not mean you as the parent should vehemently push your child toward becoming a medical doctor; just because your child loves being vocally adversarial at age 10 does not mean that s/he will make a good lawyer and you shouldn’t push s/he in this direction! Not everyone wants to attend college. College isn’t fun—it’s hard work let alone going to college has always set every child up for crucial financial debt well before s/he lands a job that will ever help pay-off the exorbitant debt!

We’re not pointing fingers here but we will state that everyone’s child and future adult cannot and will not be NUMBER ONE in an area of life! Rewarding every child with a trophy in little league soccer, basketball, volleyball, debate, etc. when they are truly not worthy and/or failing in other non-sport scholastic activities is not the answer. Why? Because the REAL WORLD (i.e., not the MTV version) has no mercy upon the meek or weak—just recall Henry Tyroon, Gordon Gekko, and a few other fictitious maladies akin to today’s Corporate America culture.

The over-aged “Elders” (on all levels or rungs of the employment ladder—vertical, horizontal, and tangential) who continue to effectively and heavily run and thus help exceed the bottom lines for corporate management and Corporate America’s board of directors and stakeholders are those who are needed in all American industries. Not everyone desires to be a Corporate C-level type unless this role will truly produce something good and will be re-invested in those employees who do the actual daily grind of the work at hand in order to make a company or business profitable. The average employee or worker in America is what has built Corporate American and these folks always go UNSUNG!

It’s the average American Worker who has positively made and continues to make the difference in America.

It’s not the CEO’s who make the business grow or should reap millions of dollars in payment while their underlings can barely feed their families let along arrive at their daily grind due to outrageous gasoline prices!

This should be all about those no-name, non-management, non-perked, etc. employees of so many who are the true unsung heroes of the American Workforce!

Does anyone else see and understand this?

No wonder Corporate America sucks for most people—but we all have to work somewhere because our country is based on capitalism, greed, materialism, and keeping up with the proverbial “Joneses”; and not to mention, who has the biggest house, the biggest gasoline guzzler, the prettiest and whitest picket fence, and who can wield the most power in terms of testosterone and/or estrogen! Unemployment in America is real and is much bigger than most citizens realize. And remember, everyone will become “old” one day.

Those folks, who have arrived at being age 40+, have more than likely paid their dues in the so-called meritocratic workforce of America and in terms of their time, education, experience, and contributed worth to their diverse families, communities, and to our global societies nationally and worldwide. The only agenda that matters today, especially within the physical image-only projection that Corporate America and its so-called “diverse” Corporate Cultures are making, is that a potential hirer (employee) is young, perky, energetic, not over-weight or plus-sized, and cute (especially, with nice legs—female and/or male).

Think about the above.

But, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and one’s personal, genetic physical features should never be used as a SUBJECT means of one’s intellectual qualifications let alone one’s ability to perform the job at hand or potential or future value to any business or company.

Conclusion: Thee Karmic (Spiritual) and Cosmic (Physical) energies, forces, and laws of our Universe have a way of bringing about truth, justice, and payback (not so good) as well as leveling the playing fields within all aspects of the mundane life of many folks who tend to enamor, perpetrate, and engage in daily thoughtless, mindless pursuits without regard or concern for the well-being of their fellow humankind.

Should those perpetrators of constant ill-will care to learn more about their careless ways and want to learn more about themselves—then, you all can begin a healing process, and how you (all genders inclusive) can begin to change your purely selfish, self-motivated, self-centered, and opportunistic behaviors which are threatening, toxic projections you spew upon others…especially, your family, friends, and co-workers.

The United States Department of Labor, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, unions, and the media should initiate a very intensive investigation of all businesses within the USA, especially those States that are by law "At Will" when this concerns hiring and firing of employees.

These issues belong to and are owned by all of us!

[1] Scenario #1 - Senator Barack Obama
Suppose that Senator Barack Obama does win the Democratic nomination, is elected, and placed in the White House:

Now consider into the near future of all peoples across America that the Iraq War, the Recession, the health care issues, the foreclosure issues, the unemployment issues, the crime issues, the elderly issues, the deficit issues, the education issues, the oil (gasoline) and natural gas issues, foreign policy issues, the so-called "Green Industry and the Greening of America" (i.e., another potential money-maker in order to fleece Americans some more), Wall Street Greed, ID Theft, Terrorism, Immigration, Homeless and Starvation in America, the SORRY-ASS Food Banks led by so-called Christian ministry organizations and supposedly funded by our government / supported by public donations (i.e., most of you feed your pets better food and take better care of your pets than your own human family members—you all know that you’re guilty of this nonsense and of whom we speak of), the Katrina Victimization (still ongoing), the disabled, child abuse, crime, abuse in general, and of course many more major socio-economic issues on the average American citizenry’s docket who financially carry, back, and spend their hard-earned dollars within America each and every day! What do we get in return, NOTHING! Nothing more than more TAXATION without representation!

Once the new President is in place, then who are you all going to point fingers at and blame?

Oh my! Some Americans may be able see, hear, speak, employ ASL and/or Braille (communication wise) about the news headlines…but what about those human beings who cannot or wish not to do so (out of fear)...?

Oh my again! 2. The United States Department of Labor really must clarify this phrase...we all would hope: What are your thoughts?

3. What does the phrase “Diversity Hiring” really mean to you and who does this phrase actually define?

4. Does this new-fangled phrase of someone else’s notion of what Political Correctness is suppose TO MEAN help or hurt your chances of landing a job / career advancement in America?

5. What are your thoughts about “DIVERSITY HIRING” as possibly being a measure of the ANTI-AFFIRMATIVE ACTION movement (in America and possibly abroad) and by those individuals, groups, and of course companies that only wish to identify certain ethnic groups that THEY PREFER NOT TO HIRE?

6. Whose “culture” defines the so-called and highly subjective “CORPORATE CULTURE” along with their hidden rules about which employee is either IN or OUT?

Deeply ponder the above questions. Those of you (within this so-called madness entitled “DIVERSITY CANDIDATE”) who are indeed highly qualified for the employment opportunities you have applied for, have been lucky to land at least a silly telephone “screening” interview or perhaps a face-to-face (f2f) interview or two, and still DID NOT land a job offer—well, think about WHY! I surmise that being "dissed" or dismissed over the telephone is perhaps "better" than one having to her or his waste time, money, and gasoline even though the prime objective in the employment search is to meet with the prospective employer en persona.

Furthermore, what you are thinking in the back of your mind may not be and probably is not just your imagination...or your just being overly sensitized to all forms of discrimination handed to you in a "piss pot"! Oh my, and does that pot smell.... It is more than likely that you ARE NOT the “right” skin color, shape or size, age, gender, and more…as though or if you had some control or choice regarding the hue of your skin from inception! Why do you think that those who can "pass" as a certain race and skin color often do so? Why are so many potential employers / hiring managers are surprised when YOU show up for a f2f interview and they have that "DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS LOOK"!

Please remember, in the United States of America, discriminatory hiring practices ARE ILLEGAL! We will begin to publicly list companies that we have researched since 1979 through the here and now who skirt around THE LAW with their insidious and divisive hiring practices.

We at the highly ethnic-diverse membership of the Temple of Kemetic Wicca surely frown upon RACISM, BIGOTRY, and PREJUDICE and those humans who think, practice, and project these negative psychological behaviors and physical actions!
